VR hasn't even had a chance to prove itself in the market. Pre-orders are probably doing 'well' due to companies taking small amounts at a time, and I honestly don't see it selling in high numbers until it gets into a lower price range.
Also Nintendo has been able to carve out a niche of profitability by finding its own way and trying to be unique, even when they don't have very high sales. I don't see such a secondary gaming accessory being the death of them at all.
