Reggie and the higher ups may know and even their knowledge is likely limited.

The average NOA/NOE employee who does grunt work at their desk though? They probably don't know shit. Because there's no reason for them to know. NOA/NOE are just like Nintendo Spain, they're often not told anything until like right before E3 or a Direct.

Yeah, ok.  Reggie does all the trademark work, files for UL listings, applies for copyrights, translates the entire SDK himself, prepares the distribution chain, allocates retail shelf space and advertising materials, writes all the legal documentation, establishes the ToS, performs all Lot Checks, generates the eShop accounts (for devs), writes and verifies all the Technical Certification Requirement checklists,  and on and on and on...  You really do not know what is involved with launching a product like this.

This isn't a simple Nintendo Direct video.  It takes a lot of people from dozens of different disciplines and fields of work.  Claiming only the execs know anything right now is absolute madness.  While not all of them will have full knowledge of everything, literally dozens if not hundreds of people at NoA and NoE know intricate details of various aspects of the system.  It is absolutely imperative that they do.  They have to.  It's what those branches are there for.

I don't think it takes hundreds of people to do all that, and it doesn't need to be done now. Even if Nintendo chooses to unveil the system at E3 and then release it in November, that gives their branches several months to prep ... which is ... normal in most other businesses. In most businesses, they don't announce a product 1+ year out and then sit around waiting for it to release.

Nintendo doesn't operate like many other companies either, not even at Sony or MS are things like release lists given to employees with codenames so their own employees don't know what's being worked on overall.
