It's far more likely Nintendo will fuck this up. They've been generally speaking fucking up in the console business for the better part of 20 years now.
I'd like to be optimistic, but they'll find some way to screw it up, seems like they do pretty much every gen post-SNES with the exception of that Wii craze for a few years.
Also if you are going to live and die on that "Nintendo patened it so it must be correct" line of reasoning .... well Nintendo basically did patent this exact type of controller.
I don't think it's real for that reason though, Nintendo would have to be dumb as shit to use basically the exact design in a patent that anyone would have acccess to see.
