Alot of mexicans are braving whatever dangers to illegally cross the southern border into the US to live there. I'm sure that's for a lot of reasons to run from mexico but mexico's healthcare apparantly not an incentive to stay. Profit fuels the drive to rapidly research and develope new medicines medical technology, surgerial procedures/techniques. Universal healthcare doesn't. Besides universial healthcare is a kind of socialism or communism and that doesn't really mix well in the US. |
Um, what? Seriously? Fire Departments, Police, Military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, US Coast Guard), the FAA, free public education till you graduate from HS, guaranteed emergency health care at a Hospital, ALL of those are socialism.
Plus, add Social Security, Medicare, Disability, Freeways, etc. for more Socialism.
Profits can still drive research – why not make them all not for profit – so instead of a giant percentage going to someone’s pocket, it all goes back to research. Plus, most medical research is sponsored by the government anyway (Universities, Hospitals, etc.)
PS I think you are neglecting how many US citizen move to Mexico to retire. Do you really think they would go if it was so bad? And yes, statistically, the US Health Care system is about the same as the one in Mexico, just 7 times more expensive.
