Not sure either... the website doesn't seem too bad. I noticed the Steam ID late, I initially thought it was just the account name.
I believe these things are free because you subscribe to them, ads, email listings, i.e. your email address.
What can they do with your SteamID? I know you can find out which one is yours here: http://steamidfinder.com/
