Yeah, that's why breeding is the way it is. That says nothing for hatching eggs. I used 12 different Pokemon species for battle (and as I said in my previous post, alternate versions on some Pokemon for different movesets), and I've bred 12 more Pokemon for my gamer girlfriend's team, on top of a few random other Pokemon I've bred for people online (one of them being a Gible for MohommedBadir here). That's about 30 5-6IV Pokemon with optimal natures, abilities and egg moves. I know full well where the work comes from and how it's not meant to be piece of cake to get good, battle ready Pokemon.

I started from scratch too, and put in dozens if not hundreds of hours building my breeding empire. Busting my ass catching Pokemon with specific natures and moves to pass on in eggs, hunting for mon with hidden abilitises in Friend Safari, studying the breeding mechanics like I'm in school, going online and exchanging friend codes for Safaris, aquiring assetts to trade to people to get things I needed for  breeding like 5-6IV mon in an egg move or hidden abilities, grinding for O-powers and Wonder Trading with my fingers crossed. According to my save file, I've played 999:59 hours (this was maxed out at least a year go) and hatched 700+ eggs. I know the breeding mechanics and purpose of it like the back of my hand at this point.

I will repeat this again: AT NO POINT DOES TAKING STEPS TO HATCH EGGS ADD ANYTHING TO THIS PROCESS. It is not a mini-game. It is not making it more difficult challenging. It is not part of any plot, story, quest or character development. IT IS JUST TO WASTE TIME WITH POINTLESS GRINDING. It does not make your Contrary Superior any more difficult to acquire. I have two of them. The only thing it did was make the person who traded one to me take an extra 60-180 seconds of his or her time to acquire it. There are thousands of them out there that can be acquired. Egg hatching doesn't deter that.

I agree wholeheartedly with the part  that I bolded and italicized. However, it has nothing to do with egg hatching.

Um yes it does, time and effort increase the value. You'd rather trade for it instead of breeding it yourself, that's the point.

No, I'd rather breed for it myself than trade for it. It does not increase the value when, like I said, trading for battle-ready Pokemon is already extremely easy. I can go on GameFAQS to the XY/ORAS trade boards and request that someone with an Action Replay make me a certain battle-ready Pokemon, and have it in minutes. All the egg-hatching does it take time away from people like me, with no added challenge. Lazy people who don't want to breed (not just hatch eggs) just resort to hacking (again, go check out the trade boards on GFAQS). Egg-hatching does nothing but waste time for legit folks, and encourage hacking and spreading around more hacked mons for others.

Saying it adds value by increasing time and effort is like saying that one quest in Skyward Sword where that bitch of a god made you hunt down those musical notes in the flooded Eldin Forest just so the developers could boast, "OVER 70 HOURS OF GAMEPLAY!". It's like an RPG that has bosses that don't do anything different or require any special strategies from normal random encounters, but you have to grind and grind and grind to reach a certain level to beat them. It would be like if Capcom put an hour long hallway in each stage of a Mega Man game where you do nothing but walk from left to right, just so it could say the game is eight hours longer than the previous one.
