For example my female Serperior with Contrary perfect IVs and a bunch of egg moves took a ton of time and effort to obtain, thus giving it a lot of value. Obviously she wouldn't be quite as tradeable if everyone could easily get one just like it. They can make breeding slighty easier as they've always done each new gen, but what they really need to do is improve the GTS. As it is you can only hope the offerer isn't lying about it's moves, ability, IVs, or if you're making the offer that the trader will fully give you what you asked for. Language barrier makes these sorts of trades impossible with anyone who speaks a language you don't. A simple fix is showing more details about the Pokemon up for trade including IVs and letting us be more specific with what we're requesting, again including IVs. This would make getting those ideal pokes easier without devaluing them. |
Yeah, that's why breeding is the way it is. That says nothing for hatching eggs. I used 12 different Pokemon species for battle (and as I said in my previous post, alternate versions on some Pokemon for different movesets), and I've bred 12 more Pokemon for my gamer girlfriend's team, on top of a few random other Pokemon I've bred for people online (one of them being a Gible for MohommedBadir here). That's about 30 5-6IV Pokemon with optimal natures, abilities and egg moves. I know full well where the work comes from and how it's not meant to be piece of cake to get good, battle ready Pokemon.
I started from scratch too, and put in dozens if not hundreds of hours building my breeding empire. Busting my ass catching Pokemon with specific natures and moves to pass on in eggs, hunting for mon with hidden abilitises in Friend Safari, studying the breeding mechanics like I'm in school, going online and exchanging friend codes for Safaris, aquiring assetts to trade to people to get things I needed for breeding like 5-6IV mon in an egg move or hidden abilities, grinding for O-powers and Wonder Trading with my fingers crossed. According to my save file, I've played 999:59 hours (this was maxed out at least a year go) and hatched 700+ eggs. I know the breeding mechanics and purpose of it like the back of my hand at this point.
I will repeat this again: AT NO POINT DOES TAKING STEPS TO HATCH EGGS ADD ANYTHING TO THIS PROCESS. It is not a mini-game. It is not making it more difficult challenging. It is not part of any plot, story, quest or character development. IT IS JUST TO WASTE TIME WITH POINTLESS GRINDING. It does not make your Contrary Superior any more difficult to acquire. I have two of them. The only thing it did was make the person who traded one to me take an extra 60-180 seconds of his or her time to acquire it. There are thousands of them out there that can be acquired. Egg hatching doesn't deter that.
I agree wholeheartedly with the part that I bolded and italicized. However, it has nothing to do with egg hatching.
