Meh, "MVP" in all major US sports is based on politics within the given year more than performance. Harper had the best stats in MLB last year but his team couldn't win a game against a little league squad. The NBA uses it's MVP award more for promotion. If the deserving player wins it, it's mostly coincidence... hence Jordan only winning 5.

I don't really follow MLB since I think baseball as a sport is a complete snoozefest so I don't know how acurately the MLB MVP actually represents the best player each year.  One of the main criterias for each sports MVP award is that you are on winning team if you are the best player in the league on a loosing team there is no chance you will win the MVP award.
