But when they release their exclusives on a PC, I'm going to buy these games - so they get extra sales they wouldn't get if they kept the games on Xbone. And when the Bone gets cheaper I could see myself buing it for the other room if I already had a great library to transfer from PC. |
Didn't work for the PS Vita, isn't going to work now.
This is a lose/lose for Xbox fans. This is what the losers do, and for good reason.
Xbox One just lost exclusives. Xbox now has less to differentiate itself from the competitors. I doubt anyone is going to by an Xbox One for a few first party that they already played on a superior platform years later; furthermore, by then they have a big enough collection to justify it the Xbox would be a dead platform. Notice third party games without contacts are not jumping on the we will develope a free PC version if you buy the Xbox One game bandwagon. Even less are going to want to restrict themselves to Windows 10 alone. All this does is increase the opportunity cost for consumers who are thinking about getting an Xbox One over PS4.
True exclusives vs games I can get on the PC. I'm not saying this is bad for Microsoft. As a stockholder, I see this as a win/win.
The Xbox value just went down, and it couldn't pick worse timing to do it.
