You used that "meaningful content" again. Isn't "meaningful content" subjective? I consider all forms of fanservice important because it has an impact on the consumers who actually play the games. With that being mentioned, why bother having something in a game meant as fan service if only to remove it to appeal to certain vocal but mostly small political groups within western countries? Nintendo is pandering to the wrong people. The main reason why I wrote off sweden in this because feminism is a strong there and it's a poor example to how the west would react to something like sexual based fan service.

Sure, what constitutes meaningful is subjective, but in this particular case there should be no doubt that the vast majority of Fire Emblem fans doesn't consider bikinis meaningful. After all, that has never been what the series is about. Because of that, it's perfectly fair to treat bikinis as content that is not meaningful and therefore its removal should be a non-issue aside from a very tiny minority.

I already went over the reasons why bikinis were in the Japanese version and won't be in other parts of the world. Such content doesn't bring any cultural issues with it in Japan, but it potentially makes distribution of the game impossible in certain countries due to alleged child pornography. Nintendo isn't going to lose out on money because of something that isn't integral to the game. Likewise, they aren't going to do special print runs of Fire Emblem Fates for a few countries just to keep the bikinis in other versions. A one-size-fits-all approach is more cost-effective and less of a headache.

Do you not realize that fan service is the icing on the cake? Sure, you can eat a cake without icing but it's missing one of the best parts. Removing fan service is not a non-issue. It's not an issue to you but it is to many others, otherwise there wouldn't be that vid or this very discussion about it. Fan service ranging from sexualized outfits/minigames or non-sexual types like returning characters or returning weapons/gear are not non-issues if they are removed.

A one-size-that-actually-fits-all approach would be as a I mentioned eariler, just adjust the characters' ages officially by releasing their character stats on their website. Everyone's happy. If a character's age is actually mentioned in the game, it can be fixed in the translation. I'm sure it would work just fine for sweden and their sensibilities.
