Send her a letter. I mean it.
Facebook, text, skype, none are personal enough.
You don't even need to make a full confession, start with something small and see if she responds.
I was also very shy, but it was my girlfriend who made the first move. I can't image what would have happened if it depended on me to do something. We probably wouldn't be together.
Build some courage, grab some pen and paper and start writing.
