I am married, have a wonderful daughter now and met my wife almost 8 years ago.
That wouldn't be the case if I hadn't called her up after I got her telephone number from a friend.

Go for it, try to be friendly and just talk to her. If she really has a good personality, you can talk to her. If she doesn't rlwant to talk to you, her character wasn't as good as you thought.
