Best 2D Mario game

This is a very, very tough call, but ultimately I'm gonna go with Mario Bros 3. In spite of its worlds being separate instead of one big map like World, it somehow felt bigger and more epic. I found its level designs more memorable too. But blimey, the bar here is so high that its like picking your favourite sex position...
