Also.. I got a better look at what Miitomo is. It seems to be a messaging app (mayble like WhatsApp) with additional features which are the Mii's. So you can chat with your friends which are also using them and some more stuff.

Expiration on points were common in the Club Nintendo days, at least here in Europe.

I think Miitomo will be less instant messaging, and more a communication device. Sending questions to friends to have them automaticaly answered (the app will quiz you on personality/etc) or making those Mii pics to use in other social media. But if Miitomo becomes the Nintendo messenger, it'd be nice to use since up till now I've been using WhatsApp to talk to Splatoon friends.

For me it seems like it is a more fleshed out Mii Plaza for the 3DS. Where you have the greeting and what you like and each time you tagged them you got to give feed back and personal messages. So it's less IM and more of a post-it-note type of communication.

And in the US the points expired, though I think it was something like after a year or two. But from what I have read there will be a lot more to turn the points into this time around so there should be old points just chilling in your account.
