That said, I think the murder of Hinazuki is meant to be a foregone conclusion and that stopping the murderer from taking the first victim isn't the goal. Rather, the goal is using the first victim to catch the murderer. It would make for an incredibly harsh reality, but considering he was sent back after his mother became a victim, it doesn't quite click that the goal is saving Hinazuki, as if it will completely stop this murderer's impulses. |

He also has been carrying a massive amount of guilt all his life over Kayo and Yuki, so I think that factors into his tunnel vision, as well. Unfortunately, reality is seldom so simple, as I think he's about to find out. Also, the original 'goal' of his time jump is to reverse the murder of his mother. I assume his jump will end when that criteria is met, regardless of everything else. Plus, Hiromi was the last child killed. The main character probably thinks he has time before he needs to focus on him. Hiromi is already a part of his group, as well, where he had to work hard to get close to Kayo. He probably thinks Hiromi's murder will be the easiest to stop. |
Hm...I suppose that makes sense. I didn't really consider the sequence they'd be killed in, and that stopping one might stop the chain. It does seem shortsighted though. He seems more focused on the short game currently, and not the entire reason he was sent back.
But I suppose that's part of the current conflict...and will likely be addressed given the events at the end of episode 4.

Edit: NEVER go to the Wikipedia page for ERASED! It spoils the entire story almost immediately. |
I was strong! I went on the official english website to get the other child's name. I've had way too many series ruined by wikis. *glares at One Piece and Shingeki no Kyojin wikis*
