Ok let's say that NX releases in this year in november and it launches with (for example) 10 games and 8 more games were released throughout the rest of 2016 and up to November of 2017. Why not wait to launch til November of 2017 to have a stronger launch lineup with those 18 games?

Are you just talking about Nintendo-published games & exclusives? If so, it would make no sense to launch with 18 games, even 10 would be stupid for that matter, they would be cannibalize each others sales.

If you're talking about multiplats than its still stupid because it would just be padding out the launch lineup with late ports which would sell terrible and do nothing for hardware sales.

Those numbers (10 and 18) were just examples. Anyway, it's not like I'm saying to launch NX with 18 platformers. If the launch games are from various genres. they wouldn't compete with eachother a great deal. The main thing is that would make the NX more appealing to consumers (not just nintendo fans) and it would give gamers plenty to play right off the bat. Not everyone likes Mario's Adventure 15: Wario's rampage and Zelda: The Link that never gets old. Variety is the spice of life.

In regards to third parties, who says that any ports to NX have to be late? Can't nintendo woo some 3rd parties to porting a a few games to the NX, when those devs were gonna release the game in nov '17 anyway. At the very least, nintendo can pay for ports that release right along with the PS4 and Xbox one.

What helps hardware sales is people being interested in the console and games are the only things that will get people interested.
