Ahh, okay…yeah, PowerVR has some nice GPU-Core-Designs, that is something we can agree on. But if they use AMD for their chips…would AMD want to license those GPU-Cores instead of using their own designs?
What I would like to see is what AMD could achieve with their new power-efficient architectures for CPUs and GPUs and 14nm-chip-production for a mobile-chip like this. Maybe we will never know it, but this would be the best chips for multi-device-games that Nintendo wants to make ¯_(ツ)_/¯

PowerVR is just an example, like I said Nvidia does similar things, so does Qualcomm/Snapdragon, I'm guessing AMD isn't incompetent so they could give Nintendo a similar type of chip.
I use PowerVR because they're very visible and the iPad is a product everyone has a frame of reference for.

It is possible, but we will see it some months anyway. AMD's Chips in the console-business are known for their low prices and when Nintendo wants to compete I think these are the best they can get for their money if they can get some of those new architectures. With 14nm it would be an easy thing to crush the PS4's raw power.

The portable is the key though. If the portable can run PS4/XB1 they are in business big time, developers want that Nintendo portable userbase, the console is always likely going to be way behind the PS4/XB1 in userbase so it likely will never be that big of a priority to developers.
But Nintendo portables? If Nintendo can pull out 50-60 million portable NX sales next gen and that NX portable has a good deal of power ... yeah that changes the equation in Nintendo's favor in several key ways.
That's the trick. Making a home console that plugs into a wall that's a bit better than a PS4 3-4 years later is no big deal. But being able to play The Witcher III on a Nintendo portable? OK now you have the attention of every Western developer.
