I wouldn't call them microtransactions exactly. There's nothing micro about a 13$ pricetag, and you don't have to repeatedly buy them, which is sort of the point of microtransactions.

I don't get people that insist they're nothing but DlC/Microtransactions. Yes, they are. They are very clearly physical figurines, that in itself are probably already worth the asking price.

Whenever people try to argue they are a single 13$ DLC, that is also wrong, because all of the figurines work in at least two games, some in many more. So you get a DLC price that is 13$ split over the physical figurine and several in-game functions.
I think actually pricewise they are sort of a good deal, unless you want to argue that all of this content should be accessible from the beginning for free anyways. (which is perfectly valid)

I think the problem really starts when they start to create a 'haves and have nots' culture, like with that wolf link Amiibo. Wolf Link Amiibo is the closest we've seen so far to a pre-order bonus imo. In those cases it might help if Nintendo simply offered the same content (maybe a bit down the line) as dlc (for free or for a fair price) for everyone.
