There is nothing "micro" about the price of Amiibo! For those who enjoy the collecting figurines aspect of it, such as myself, then I think Amiibo are pretty excellent. I really like the way they work across a multitude of games, with different functionality. However, I can understand why they would annoy those who don't want the figures, and just want the functionality without the cost. To those people, it is essentially overpriced DLC, and in that case, my advice to you is to do whatever you usually do with overpriced DLC. Basically, did you buy the Smash DLC, or didn't you?

As for the example used by the OP, I think the Amiibo use you described of refilling hearts and arrows is very harmless. If they actually presented that as a microtransaction, then I'd probably be calling greed, but as additional functionality to already existing Amiibo, I think it's fine.
