Man, I'm black and I love movies. With the exception of Idris Elba in "Beasts of No Nation", there wasn't a lot of performances I felt were superb from black people.
Selma, last year, had a great message but the acting sucked. It was like a TV show. Sans for concussion. I like Will but the guy isn't a great actor. It may be race that determines who gets the best role but dammit, if the best actor isn't a black guy, don't give it to them out of pity. Didn't 12 Years a Slave just win best picture not that long ago?
Oh, and as much as I fucking LOVE the Hateful 8, Samuel L. Jackson was the weakest (though most entertaining) actor in the film. Truth hurts.
*edit* Creed was great--but not what I consider Oscar worthy. It was just a satisfying film.
