I don't think they can be mainstream with the criteria you set. Nintendo will very likely see big success in mobile, and that is technically as mainstream as it goes as far as gaming markets go, but when it comes to their core gaming segment, ie. their dedicated hardware, and software for that hardware, while they might see more success in the next generation than they did in this generation, I honestly don't really think they'll have a massive turnaround from the current situation. They'll likely be somewhat up, but not massively.
