| Train wreck said: 0%-10%. In September 2012, no one knew what the prospects/sales potential of the Wii U so I'm sure in Nintendo's eyes the investment in the game made sense, my guesstimate. Fast forward 3+ years and we have a clear picture that the audience, to me, is just not there, no matter what the internet forum goers say. ZhugeEx mentioned to me that the numbers for this game, and the original, are greatly inflated. but we do know that Sega shipped 1.35million of the original in 2010 and Nintendo has yet to officially list numbers for this game. Last rumored numbers for US is ~157k (April) LTD, Media Create has <70k LTD and I'm sure its in between in Europe. With those type numbers, be true or rumored, I'm sure Nintendo is not willing to try its luck again...but who knows. |
I don't think it would be a matter of sales. I'm sure the game has been at least profitable enough to justify its funding. But more than that, when Bayo2 was announced for the WiiU, the system was everywhere in the media, on the internet, on gaming forums... the WiiU suddenly got a ton of attention and advertisement from word of mouth, and it lasted from the announcement to the release and critical praise of the game. If that is done again with a system that actually catches the interest of the gaming community in general, it could be a wonderful opportunity for Nintendo.
