Just wow. I have a new frontrunner of this season. Buranki is amazing. Great direction, art direction, sound, music, characters. It's just really really well made with a big budget to back it up. And this is all despite being a children in mechs anime. The 3d CGI is the only thing that holds it back but they are still able to deliver impressive action and setpieces.

If that thing was animated by Trigger it would easily be a strong contender for AOTY.

Does it actually improve after episode one? Because I thought episode one was decent for the first half, and then just fell to pieces as a clusterfuck of bad storytelling in the second half. It completely pushed me away from the show with all that unexplained nonsense that they tried to pass off as introducing story elements, when really, it was just haphhazard crap that made it way too obvious that it was a made for TV original animation with no source material to speak of, not at all contributed to by anybody that has written above the level of fan fiction.

It really does improve in the second ep. First part is some nice action witha fw shounen tropes and second part they introduce the main villain and the main dynamic of the anime. They make the central theme of working together literal. Overll it's just straight solid direction with some awesome shots. I wasn't reminded of Trigger for nothing.

Also OP and ED are really nice. For me it's the most complete package of any anime so far.
