Wii Sports Club? really? not one new game? then thats pretty stupid. As for NSMB well thats the thing isnt it, why were we giving them a pass, because they FINALLY added multiplayer and put it on a console. What did people expect Ninty to do after that? much cheaper to just give us the same old thing because we have been cool with it (not me, didnt get it. Maker shouldve been a launch game)

For Metroid, fair enough but then i would argue that they should have NEVER made a single player focused console PERIOD. IMHO when i saw that i knew the system was kinda fucked, has there ever been a successful SP focused console made in the past two decades?

where just gonna have to agree to disagree IMHO MKWii was one of the worse entries, i am curious to know why you think its better because you didnt mention it. It felt like a party game on wheels, too much luck involved and not enough skill. They really catered to the lowest broadest denominator and i get it, just dont like it. As for Brawl i thought Subspace was one of the biggest wastes of time in a game ever. It was a crappy platformer that was way too long. so the fact that they didnt waste time trying to do it again is a boon for me. And the online was atrocious. its a damn 4 player fighting game, they didnt focus on the multiplayer part.

Gonna have to disagree. I liked them. Sonic 3 had a great ice world.

Very true, but what KINDS of games. I rather have a smaller library of better titles than a big library with a lot of shovelware which IMHO is what WIi had (and DS to a lesser extent). Who does the latter really benefit? Not gamers, unless they liked those shovelware games (doubtful) or they just want bragging rights to say there console is has more games. Hell the Wii stop getting real support (even from Ninty) long before the PS360 stopped getting support.

Yes they said that about the WII. the solution was Wii u? I dont think you even believe that. Ever heard of too little too late? thats wii u in a nutshell. So they put out a system only marginally better than systems that were on the market for 7-8 years? they essentially pulled a Wii again only this time it didnt work. And PS4 and X1 werent on the market yet? come on, people knew they were coming and they knew it would be way above Wii U power wise. and it only beat them to the market by a year. Silly move on Ninty part.

Thats just nonsense, PS3 supported like 6 controllers and the newer ones default support 4 or more imho it sounds like you're really reaching and looking for reasons outside of Ninty for there silly mistakes or you just have a warped way of looking at it.

it has every thing but the ability to have more than one used on a system...that is a BIG step back. Which is one of the reasons its selling so poorly.

Well, there was huge demand for 2D Mario. I personally expected a NSMB game to follow that had been like SMB3 to SMB, or SMB2 to SMB, it's not like the huge sales didn't warrant huge budget - but no, you made the cheapest game possible. Mario Maker is just worse - isntead of recycled content the is a no content game. No wonder there's no buzz about Mario Maker. Nintendo even went on to copy Sony's LBP advertising.

Usually the single player focus have been on PC and handhelds, and all the "hardcore" games today are single player anyway, so in that sense there was no reason for Wii U not to succeed in the said group, however the single player games market have PC, so even if you'd have a better box to connect to your TV, PC might still be your preferred games machine. I don't think there have ever been a successful console to focus on single player, I think SNES might get the closest, but most of the successful consoles have been the ones with the most popular party games.

MKW is either my favourite or second favourite Mario Kart. Getting rid of the waggle to get a boost was very welcome, the tracks were exciting and it's one of the most hectic Mario Karts there is. I really don't get this luck argument. The MK mechanics work the way that having a lead over someone gives you a disadvantage. If you get hit by an item in a bad spot, that's because your opponent had a good strategy. If you drop in rank, it's easy to get back as you get better items. What I've seen happening online is, that those who are good in the game win, and those who are not, lose and whine about the game being about luck.

Subspace Emissary isn't a platformer, but a beat em up. SSBB is as much a multiplayer game as other Smashes, but on top of that Brawl is much better single player (and you can play SE two player co-op).

Shovelware just comes with the success, there's really not much you can do to prevent it. Some of the shovelware is actually fun to give it a try or two, but, I do understand your point, even if it's a theoretical level we're talking about.

No, Nintendo did not pull a Wii again. It was the complete opposite they did. Nintendo thought that having "Wii" in the name and rehashing a couple Wii games would have the Wii owners to jump to Wii U. Wii had lots of substance, while Wii U did not. Nintendo went back to Gamecube with Wii U.

PS3 supported 7 controllers. But that's not the point, the big hardware movers on Playstation are Singstar, Fifa and the likes. The "hardcore" games are still the ones with focus on single player campain or single player online. Wii U does support two gamepads, that would make it a total of nine controllers simultanously. But it doesn't matter how many controllers does it support or anything, if the games aren't getting any better or support them too. I'm not looking for reasons OUTSIDE Nintendo, I'm looking at the easons INSIDE.

It is the games first Wii U is selling so badly and price second.
