i'd say so. any new ip with actual characters (side-eyeing you wii sports and wii fit), is going to be associated with the console it released on. Especially when that game is, in fact, a success. Alot of great games were released on gamecube, but i always immediately think of pikmin and eternal darkness (quickly followed by metroid prime). Although not a nintendo titles, the first games on wii i think of are no more heroes and madworld. Wii u definitely has a word association with splatoon.
