Pretty much none of those games u listed are turn-based. But yes, JRPGs do well on Playstation platforms, I wasn't necessarily saying those games do better on Nintendo platforms, just that they do well on Nintendo platforms so if someone tries releasing a game for a Nintendo platform it makes much more sense to release a game in one of those listed genres instead of a Shooter for example. Barely anybody in general is releasing platformers other that Nintendo, the western retail market has primarily become a shooter/open-world/sports/racing Sim market, u barely see any of the big western publishers release anything that doesn't fall in line with one of those genres. |
But the indie market is full of 2d platformers and we have rayman, Unravel yookalee, Sony in general also tries to bring movies and games closer to eachother which I fully support. But yes each market produces a bit more games in one genre than the other, for instance Japanese studios are barely releasing games outside their comfort zone either if you ask me. Difference is Sony has both worlds, MS focuses on the Western world and Nintendo on the Eastern world. Problem is that Japan doesn't like home consoles and has shitty connections with many publishers like Squeenix, while a FFXV or a KHIII would do mirracles for NX.
Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar
