What were third parties supposed to do? Not support the PS3 and 360 and hope gamers would be satisfied with SD graphics forever? They were going to have to switch to higher end HD gamers sooner or later. Even Nintendo themselves also had issues trying to sell "epic" traditional style games on the Wii like Metroid Prime 3 had unimpressive sales relative to its userbase, things like Sin & Punishment and Xenoblade were not big sellers either.
