In the case of Monolith Soft, I can actually see why, since Xenoblade Chronicles X is huge, but Retro Studios? They only made freakin' Donkey Kong... Are they dead or what? |
Only Retro Studios has issues releasing software. Both released their first game in 2002, Monolithsoft now has 26 releases, Retro has 9.
With the exception of 2014, 2009, and 2007, 2005. and 2002 Monolithsoft has headed and co-develops between 2 and 4 releases per year since the release of Xenosaga Episode 1. So for 9 of the 14 years Monolithsoft have had 2 or more releases per year.
Retro Studios heads or co-develops only 2-3 games per generation, with 3 of their 9 releases being port work, and a 4th of those 9 being strictly consultation.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
