The average home entertainment also has become much better since the 1990s / early 2000s (bigger TVs with higher resolution and better sound, better TV program (Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, many HBO series...).

Thanks to TV seasons on DVD/Blu-ray and streaming services the story arcs of these TV productions could get more complex: less worries that people lose interest in the series because they missed a few episodes and can't follow the story anymore. You can watch your favorite movies and tv series when YOU want, you don't have to keep in mind tv time slots anymore if you plan your dates.

So many people have less reasons to go to the cinema... It's not a much better experience than watching movies an tv series at home anymore.

Nevertheless both US and global box office revenues set new records in 2015, so I'm not worried about the movie industry.
