Lots has changed in the past few years and I think NX will have to reflect that ...
- The home console business .... Nintendo's is largely irrelevant in the market. And the home console is largely dead in Japan.
- With increasing technology, Nintendo can no long support a seperate handheld and home console (neither can Sony or MS). This isn't the Game Boy era where you could half-ass a couple of Donkey Kong Country ports and 2-3 other projects made by a team of 10 people and that was good enough for your yearly line up. Nintendo fans that think can just keep making consoles and handhelds the same way forever are naive. Today the 3DS requires a ton of resources and requires its own mainline Mario, Smash, Mario Kart, Zelda, Animal Crossing, etc. games, in fact it's arguably now the lead platform for some of these IP.
- The impact of mobile on Nintendo's handheld business has been devastating.
