I'd be shocked if Nintendo's next portable (if they make one) has a screen over 720p.
They've always opted for very low resolution screens for their handhelds; 3DS has a lower res screen (400x240) than the circa 2005 PSP, (480x272) and the original DS, released that same year, operated at a miniscule 256x192.
Based on past trends, 540p is more likely than 1080p for a 3DS successor.
