| Nymeria said: I don't see it simply because I don't see Avatar as culturally relevant today. Star Wars, Toy Story, and Jurassic Park were films people came back to time and again. Avatar was this event that got everyone's attention, but a year later it faded away. When was the last time you heard someone quote or reference it? Either in day to day or general pop culture? Do you expect long wait lines and midnight showings to break records? I don't doubt it will do fine, but I struggle to see it match the original's box office gross. |
This is just dumb, sorry. Did Titanic have quotable dialogue??? Some films like Point Break and Pulp Fiction have some of the MOST quotable lines and they weren't huge box office draws at all.
Case in point: Star Wars is just awesome to the FANS! Just because THEY like to quote it doesn't mean anything. Quotable lines do NOT make a huge movie. If AVatar's trailer impresses with stunning visuals and an interesting plotline, it WILL draw in crowds.
Hell, I'm an Avatar fan and I've been waiting for a sequel the moment the first film ended. Here we are 6 years later and I'm still waiting.
