It feels safe and confined (Proabably because its basically just the one room. It doesn't have that feel of ...whatcha call it, er...background satire, instead just up front wackiness. I'd love that VR sex suit though :D. Also, Transendence is def in my top 3 of 2014 along with the most underatted, underwatched, underadvertised blockbuster ever, I'll let ya gues that one. |
It had some background satire but it was indeed a lot smaller in scope. A grand outside adventure would not have worked with that character. I like his smaller scale movies too anyway, for example Tideland. But yeah 12 monkeys, Brazil and Tideland all come before Zero theorem. On par with Fear and loathing, better than Baron Munchhausen, Brothers Grimm and Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus.
I don't know if it was underwatched or underadvertised, probably was, my 2014 best movie was Grand Budapest hotel, although Insterstellar was stellar too. Predestination was great, Boxtrolls amazing artwork and best end credits sequence ever. 2014 was a pretty good year.
