I'm completely favorable to Islam being taught in schools. But if they show what it really is. Including sharia law, caliphates, etc.

The Holy Church prohibits it's members to take part in matters of state and is neutral to political parties. While muslisms are mostly favorable to sharia law and their religious leaders serve as rulers. You got that completely backwards mate, you should be the one studying Islam yourself.

No religion should be taught in USA schools unless it is a private school.  Public schools should be free from religion.  I am a firm believer in seperation of church and state.

To the op: If you want to learn about other religions then take a religion class in college (I took one that covered all major religions), buy a book, or use the internet.  People shouldn't be forced to learn about a religion if they don't want to.

But separation of church has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not you teach about religion. That would be like saying schools shouldn't teach about dictatorships since you live in a democracy. But the teaching should be secular in nature, getting students to constructively analyze religions and their social context. Not teaching about religion would be to give religions the freedom to only teach their perspective on the religion as well.
