It's a shitty customer service, especially when the competition does it better. Simple as that. On top of that a "PS3 version" of a PS2 game is just an 1:1 emulation, so you basically paid a fee to play the exact same game you already had. Now on PS4 you get a little upgrade, but I bet most customers would've rather taken the option to use full backwards compatibility with all their PS2 games with no extra cost, than having to buy an extremely limited amount of slightly upgraded games they already possess.
Also your own Blu-Ray comparison fails as Blu-Ray players can play DVDs, so you don't need to get the Blu-Ray version of a movie (whether it should be free or not).
