It got a 5/5 stars from Empire. Roger Ebert gave it 3.5/4 starts.

And it's 56% on RT. 55% on RT is still 55% of people who liked it. Realistically, that should have been 0% - it is just a horrid movie.

Is a terrible movie, but overall the critical reception was very poor, specilly compared to this one.

It was but it was boosted by the Star Wars effect which is why instead of a fraction of critics not liking the movie, the majority did. I don't doubt that a somewhat similar thing is happening for this movie.
