I don't think it would help if they bought either. Outside of increasing market share in EU with PS it wouldn't really be as big of a deal and most of the IPs won't fit Nintendo's style. If anything they should buy Sega. They got the IPs, the mascots, and sub companies that would bring the mature edge to Nintendo without ruining anything.
Plus they would own Atlus and the Bayonetta IP. It would be a match made in heaven.
