A few tip I'll give you

One, stand in front of the sensor bar. It's amazing how many people miss this one.

The sensor bar isn't used. The calibration position is your center. You can play on any side of your tv. But you have to aim ahead of you. And not the TV.

Not quite. It uses the sensor bar to realign your sword forward. Trust me, I've played it with and without the sensor bar. It makes a world of difference. I've seen, the moment I turned on the senor bar, the sword suddenly alligning towards the front. 100% sure it does use it.

It's only for the calibration part. Not for actual use. So you could just unplug it, if you wanted to, after calibration.

Nope. It does during gameplay. For the sword. I've done my experiments. I know this for a FACT. Don't trust me? Take it from these other people saying the exact same thing. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/960633-the-legend-of-zelda-skyward-sword/61262603

Still don't believe me? Try it yourself. Unplug your sensorbar, make your sword out of allignment, point the remote, at the sensor bar, plug the sensor bar back in. The sword suddenly alligns to the center.
