Never look at the past anymore ( i mean which is obvious in terms of patterns), pokemon since gen 5 has actually been unpredictable in many ways. Going by past patterns means nothing anymore.
Examples.
*BW to BW2 (never were there direct sequels) (also was supposed to be the obvious gray version)
*Gen 5 being extremely short for west
*Launching of Gen 6 simultaneously WW
That said financially? Yes i agree but we are going into Pokemon's 20th year anniversary, and they mention they want to make it special! Anything could happen! ANYTHING :P
EDIT: Well 2 different gens of games never technically happened yet but we do have this....
