I just looked up Xenoblade X's file size. It's 22.7 GB. How do they expect us to download all of the patches and the game if we buy the game digitally? Not to mention there won't be space for anything else

If you buy it digitally you don't need the data packs. the whole point of the packs is to bypass the optical drive's maximum throughput. If you're not playing from disc, the optical drive is out of the equation and no longer a limiting factor.
