I doubt it has anything to do with the PSN hack, because they didn't start charting that high until 2013 (well would you look at that, same year the PS4 launched 
).
If I had to guess, I think it's because a lot of worldwide users have made US PSN accounts because the prices are generally cheaper and you get sales that you don't get in EU, and one of the easiest ways to fill a US PSN account with cash from outside of the US is through Amazon.
