I think androgyny is a Japanese thing, the most girly looking guys in gaming usually come from JRPG's like final fantasy, Tale's, Dragon quest etc. I also think the average Japanese male looks more feminine than we do, for example just take a look at smash bro's creator masahiro sakurai, gymnast kohei uchimura and actor yamada yuki below. Androgyny is part of japanese culture and Nintendo are japanese so i don't think links appearance will ever change. I mean has anyone ever seen a butch japanese male protagonist in any game?
