Spemanig seems to use hyperbole a lot with his arguments, I don't think hundreds of millions of people were in love with Miis like he claims but I do agree that it was the poor sales of Wii U that have caused Mii to be less successful as of late rather than lack of interest in Miis is what caused Wii U to be unsuccessful.

I really think Miitomo can be a big hit on mobile platforms, not solely because of Miis but because of the social aspect of the app.

Not every new social app is a big hit. One that looks dorky and won't let you communicate very much at all probably won't be well-received by your average, non-Nintendo apologist mobile user.

Bitstrips looked pretty damn dorky and were a big hit. How do u know how much communication it will/wont allow? There are also going to be mini games within the app much like Mii Plaza.
