well its choosing between the PSP defeating the GBA or Vita sold less...

To "defeat" something, you have to be in direct competition with it.  Nintendo DS was already on the market (November 21, 2004 - NA, December 2, 2004 - JP) when the PSP released (December 12, 2004 - JP, March 24, 2005 - NA), and therefore was its 7th gen competition.  The PSP was never at any time competing directly against the by then 4 year old 6th gen GBA.  Since the DS sold 154 million+ units, saying the PSP defeated something hardly applies.  The proper term to use would have been "surpassing".  If you think I'm nitpicking grammar, just ask yourself does it make more sense to say that Vita defeated Game Gear, or surpassed its lifetime sales?
