....When people mention that MS will not ever overtake Steam, I just laugh. Steam doesn't provide you with anything other than a convenient place to buy mostly older PC games at a discount and even then,

What do you think the point of vendors on PC are? That's all that's neccessary to be provided. All the other stuff XBL provides have defacto PC standards like Amazon and Netflix. Unless w10 store magically does these things better, nobody will care if it does it all in one place.

it is based on DRM. Nonsequitor

The whole point behind Win10 is to get people on the MS ecosystem. Why would anybody truly go over to Steam if the same game at the same price was available in the WIn10 app store? Loyalty? Yeah right, there is no such thing.

The same reason people use Internet Explorer, to download Chrome. Just cause it is installed by default doesn't mean there will be an impetus to use it. Furthemore, the converse of your claim is also apt, why woud anyone go over to 10 app store if it was already on Steam? It could go either way.

MS will build the Win10 app store up slowly through the mass market adoption of Win10.

Windows has been the dominant platform for years, during which MS has always had propreitary services but in spite of this Steam, Amazon, Netflix, Chrome/Firefox have excelled. Look how well Windows 8 changed things, after all W 10 store is literally just that.

Do gamers have to delete their Steam accounts? NO. But, just like people have accounts with Apple or Google or MS or Steam, they will have them in multiple places. Over time, there will be less and less need to go to Steam and then it will slowly shrink. It probably will not go away and we should hope it doesn't as it will keep MS honest in their app store.

Until W10 Store offers better, not more, better, than Steam, then that won't be happenning. Existing is not enough, there has to be clear advantages, and the convience of avaliability equally applies to both.

The only thing that would concievably take down Steam, at least from its top position, is its own lack of quality control, not Windows 10 App store.
