The game actually had a higher MSRP in Japan of 6,600 yen which would translate to a price $59.99 US using the conversion structure Nintendo employs.  

Fatal Frame has MSRP of $49.99 in the US.

For reference Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has a MSRP of 5,700 yen in Japan and is $49.99 US.

I still stand by my point though. Purchasing a product that has altered or censored content for an unjustifiable reason when others can still have them (whether it's for the same price or not) can be frustrating.
