I didn't read this thread. I saw it to late and I'll never catch up. I'm a huge Nintendo fan since like 1988.
With that said, I know Nintendo. They produce great hardware line the SNES and the Gamecube. They produce weaker hardware like the Wii and WiiU. One thing they've always done was give devs hardware that's "in the ballpark" of the actual hardware.
Starfox was supposed to be running on the Super FX at one E3 (or CES) but they found out it was actually running on a computer.
The "Project Realty"/Ultra 64/N64 was supposed to be the exact hardware that Cruis'N USA and Killer Instinct were running on in the arcades. The actual hardware was much less.
Same thing with certain early WiiU titles where devs built their games expecting a certain level of performance only to discover that it was considerably weaker (something I still have a hard time excepting. Reggie said it would be as powerful as the next PlayStation and Xbox. Reggie said it!)
So, while I'll but the NX, I'm going to temper my expectations. That way, I'm either not surprised or I'm pleasantly surprised. I won't be disappointed, though.
