How i pick my Weekly animes before a new season:
1) Poster of the Anime
2) Genres
3) Synopsis
4) Trailer/PV
5) Episode 1

Then i decide if i will keep it. Sadly i dont have the time and the motivation? of watching every anime at least the first 5min. But i do give animes a try where my friend recommends it even though i didn't like anything i saw/read about it up to step 4.

If you Skip the first 4 steps you have plenty of time to watch the first ep. That's what I do. I only look at the names and posters on anichart to get a grasp. Fujoshi bait is pretty easy to spot that way. Genres are often misleading. Synopsis is absolutely irrelevant since what's important is how the anime plays it out.

Watching a Trailer or PV is actually the worst thing you could ever do. They always give false impressions. I once watched the Coppelion trailer and was pretty hyped for the show. Second worst Anime I have ever watched. Since then I stay the hell away from any trailers. The first ep is in 99% of cases enough to give you the plot and the level of quality.

Yeah i know what you mean. Like for mangas i do just read the first chapter or at least a couple pages if i like the art style and the story. But for some reason i just dont have that motivation to watch something even for a few minutes if i dont find anything i like in those 4 steps. Maybe i just have soooo much things to do. Or theres that "I rather do this than do that" =D
