Even when I haven't paid for the video, something approaching BluRay quality is a must for me. Yes, I do steal, but I can't buy everything, don't watch much TV., streaming is shit and poorly supported where I live and video rentals are hard to find, especially those with much of a BluRay offering. I go for 12-22GB downloads with DTS sound, thought when not available I'll go for a 5-8GB 720p sometimes DTS sometimes AC3 or DVD copies of the same size. This is still much better than anything streaming can offer.
