I'm not saying being weak and unique is the ONLY reason, so you don't have to list other things Nintendo messed up. But there is no argument that lack of power isn't one of the biggest mistake. I mean, look at PS3. Sony messed up just as bad, if not even worse at the start. But due to PS3 being the most powerful console, they managed to turn things around. High price - look, even you're doing it. You are comparing Wii U with PS360! You're saying it was $100 more expensive than PS360! Why? Cause it was that weak that nobody felt the next gen vibe! Nobody is doing that with PS4/Xbone, cause they are undeniably next gen. Wii U was like "Hey Nintendo, welcome to 2008". We still get cross-gen games, but nobody is saying "PS4 isn't worth $400, you can play CoD on PS360 for $200!". Cause the extra power makes for a different experience. Wii U failed here big time. And that resulted in 3rd party games not being enticing for consumers. There was no jump! 3rd party games are the best solution for software droughts - just look at PS4 and Xbone. They would be in an even worse condition than Wii U without 3rd parties, but thanks to them they are rocking. The same game looking better is better than the same game looking worse. Period. The power jump is one of the major elements when it comes to new generation in consoles, it's also the easiest one to show to a customer. Deal with it and keep those lame arguments for yourself. Better power doesn't exclude other improvements in any other areas. It's only a positive thing. And I've said PS3 had a ridiculous architecture and mentioned the problems it caused, so can't see why you're pointing that out? It was a mistake that Sony learned upon and corrected with the PS4. Sony reacted. Nintendo is stubborn and arrogantly ignores what is happening on the market - so the market bit back. Karma. Your problem is that you refuse to accept that what you consider "reasons" can still be reduced to underlying more basic reasons. And a huge part of Wii U's problems stems from it being so underpowered. Obviously the main problem is that the casual crowd left home consoles for smart devices. But then the other problem is that weak and 3rd party unfriendly Wii U had very little to offer for the regular gamers that are left on the market. Questionable marketing is just icing on the cake. |
Well 3DS is also weak..
No I dont think power is problem at all for Wii U, I am certain that even stronger Wii U wouldnt change anything, but on other hand only with normal marketing and name with smaller price Wii U would be done much better. Only real problem for PS3 was high price nothing else.
Of Course that I comparing Wii U with PS3/Xbox 360 because they were only consoles on market when Wii U arived and everybody compared Wii U with them and Wii U basicly died in first year. Nobody expect Nintendo fans wanted to give $100 more for Wii U because games looked and played similar, so Wii U clearly didnt worth $100 more than PS3/Xbox360. It not power, its price, power wouldnt change anything but lower price would change lotsa a things with right marketing, Nintendo is always looking to have very aforidible consoles but with Wii U they totally failed.
No, 3rd party abandon Wii U after terrible Wii U sales, we are still have much stronger 3rd support for PS3/Xbox360 than for Wii U. Of Course that PS4/Xbox One probably would be in worse situation than Wii U without 3rd party because people mostly buy those platforms for 3rd party games.
Actually jump from Wii to Wii U was huge jump, just look all those great looking Wii U games.
My point is that you said that problem for Wii U also was unique architecture, but also PS3 had very unique architecture. Nintendo will also correct that problem with NX.
No, your problem is that you think power was big problem for Wii U , but in fact that wouldn't change anything because there other much bigger mistakes that Nintendo made. Wii HD (with proper marketing) without gamepad and with $250 price would done much better than Wii U, not to mention other Nintendo mistakes that I already mentioned.
Also, guess what, NX will probably be underpowerd compare to PS4/XboxOne, but Nintendo will correct Wii U mistakes like bad name and marketing, it will have affordable price (around $250), good launch titles, probably better new concept/gimmick than gamepad, more user friendly architecture, because it will be unified platform it want be software drought like with Wii U....and will sell much better than Wii U even again will be underpowered.
